Reza Aramesh. Action: By Number

Bottega Cini, Venice, 5 - 16 June 2024, Opening hours 10.00 - 19.00

Presentation of the book Reza Aramesh. Action: By Number, published by Skira Arte, on Wednesday 5 June 2024 at 17:30 (accompanying the exhibition, which continues until 16 June) at the Bottega Cini premises, Dorsoduro 862, Venice.
In his politically and emotionally charged sculptures, photographs, installations and performances, the contemporary artist Reza Aramesh, born in Iran and based in London, addresses violence and oppression around the world and examines how the mass media portray conflicts and their ramifications.
During the presentation, Reza Aramesh talks with Bjorn Ster, an art dealer and collector from London, one of the contributors to the book

Working with a wide range of materials and techniques (sculpture, drawing, embroidery, ceramics, video and performance), in his works Reza Aramesh explores in parallel the history of Western art and contemporary events relating to Middle Eastern politics and history, creating a unique visual language that addresses the dramatic situations of violence of our time.
A deep knowledge of the history of art, cinema and literature is always present in his works, which range from photography to sculpture, from video to performance.
In response to the raw images of war reportage from newspapers, online articles and social media, the artist decontextualises scenes of violence and proposes a reflection on the human condition, focusing on the theme of power and brutality in a crucial confrontation with the history of European art.
